ABET Cognition Software

ABET Cognition Software takes advantage of many new features of our ABET Core hardware but remains backward compatible with previous ABET II touch screen systems. For users accustomed to our easy to use ABET II Touch software, the look and control of the software will feel much the same, allowing for videos to be played and extending the sounds available by enabling usage of any audio files.

When paired with an ABET ‘Core’ Intelli-Interface for Easy Multi-Chamber Control, ABET Cognition can control up to 20 Bussey-Saksida Rat and Mouse Touch Screen Chambers directly supporting I/O control, touch screen, audio, images, and video without the need of Whisker.

Schedule Writing

• Intuitive programming with drop down lists that is still powerful enough to program the most complex of tasks
• Lock finished schedules from further changes, so you always know the exact schedule that relates to your data.
• Display images or video anywhere on the screen
• Play any audio files into the chamber. Tones and white noise files are already programmed into the system for easy access and continuity with our older chambers.
• Our prewritten schedules are programmed with ABET Cognition and available for you to amend if required.
• Our debugger allows you to run your schedules virtually and displays the code running in real time for fast correction of inadvertent errors.

Running Schedules

• Load and run single or multiple environments with same or different schedules
• Add animal identification, weight, dose or treatment, and any other information you require
• Variables such as the intertrial interval can be changed prior to running the schedule
• Save experiments in advance ready to run

Data mining

• All data saved and time stamped for post processing
• Filter out the data required with our analysis designer including: Counts, Latencies, Bouts of Activity, and Time bin evaluation
• Easily search and sort experiments you want to group together or compare
• Output to a report with measures in columns and experiments in rows
• Mean, min, max and standard deviation available where there are multiple measures
• All data easily exported into other analysis packages

Virtual Interface

Install ABET Cognition on your laptop, office computer or any computer not connected to hardware. The Virtual Interface is a duplicate of the environment that you have in your lab. You can now create, review, and test schedules and you can review or analyse lab data in a more convenient setting. Pass schedules and data to and from your lab either by a network connection or any removable media. ABET Cognition also includes convenient backup and restore utilities.
