The company designs and manufactures advanced measurement and control systems used by researchers worldwide in fields including muscle physiology, cardiovascular research, neuroscience, and materials science.
Due to continued international growth, the company is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Product Consultant to develop and grow business across Europe for the Aurora Scientific brand, in addition to other synergistic Lafayette Life Science brand products.
Position Summary
The Product Consultant will be responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market presence across Europe for a life science research instrumentation portfolio. This technical sales role requires strong scientific knowledge, relationship-building capabilities, and enthusiasm for selling capital equipment or advanced laboratory solutions into academic, pharmaceutical, and biotech environments throughout Europe.
The successful candidate will work closely with researchers, principal investigators, laboratory managers, distributors, and commercial partners to identify opportunities, manage sales pipelines, conduct product demonstrations, and support customers throughout the sales process. Moreover, the successful candidate will provide technical and application support, manage on-site installations, attend tradeshows, and conduct both virtual and in-person training sessions for all Aurora systems. Travel is an important aspect of this role, and the successful candidate should be able to travel around 50% of the time across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for the European Union and neighboring territories
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within:
- Universities and academic research centers
- Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies
- Contract research organizations (CROs)
- Grow and maintain relationships with existing customers
- Achieve and exceed annual sales targets and KPI objectives
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and tenders
Technical & Scientific Support
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to researchers and laboratory teams
- Provide application-focused sales and technical support in a variety of fields including but not limited to muscle physiology and neuroscience
- Conduct detailed on-site installations and product testing or troubleshooting
- Liaise with internal scientific and engineering teams regarding customer applications and product feedback to further assist product development
Market Development
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging research areas
- Represent the company at scientific conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and industry meetings throughout Europe
- Develop relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and leading research groups
- Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and CRM records
- Prepare regular territory activity and performance reports
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Post-graduate degree in Physiology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of in vivo and/or ex vivo physiology research workflows
- Ability to clearly communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and commercial audiences
- Full work authorization in Germany as visa sponsorship is not possible
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Europe
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on laboratory experience in muscle physiology or with Aurora Scientific products
- 1–3 years of experience in technical sales within the life sciences sector with a proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
- Existing network within European academic or pharmaceutical research communities
- Additional language skills beyond English
