Its Life Science division encompasses seven specialized brands that deliver innovative research and measurement technologies worldwide. The portfolio includes Avisoft Bioacoustics, a newly acquired market leader in bioacoustics instrumentation and software designed for recording and analyzing animal vocalizations, including ultrasonic sounds, across diverse species.
Position Summary
To support the integration and growth of Avisoft Bioacoustics, we are hiring a commercially driven Product Consultant. Based in and focused on Europe, this individual will lead technical knowledge transfer, provide client support, and drive European sales growth for both the Avisoft product line and synergistic Lafayette Life Science brands.
The Product Consultant will be responsible for transitioning the technical knowledge from the company founder and to serve as the main point of contact for technical sales and support inquiries. This will require regular on-site training in Brandenburg, and the ability to relay the information to the wider sales team. Once product knowledge has been obtained, the role will transition into driving sales growth and expanding market presence across Europe for the instrumentation portfolio. This technical sales role requires strong scientific knowledge, relationship-building capabilities, and enthusiasm for selling capital equipment and advanced laboratory solutions into academic, pharmaceutical, and biotech environments throughout Europe.
The successful candidate will work closely with researchers, principal investigators, laboratory managers, distributors, and commercial partners to identify opportunities, manage sales pipelines, conduct product demonstrations, and support customers throughout the sales process. Moreover, the successful candidate will provide technical and application support, attend tradeshows, and conduct both virtual and in-person training sessions for the relevant product line. Travel is an important aspect of this role, and the successful candidate should be able to travel around 30% of the time across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Technical and Scientific Support
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to researchers
- Provide application-focused sales and technical support in a variety of fields
- Conduct product testing or troubleshooting both virtually and on-site when applicable
- Liaise with internal scientific and engineering teams regarding customer applications and product feedback to further assist product development
Sales and Business Development
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for the European Union and neighboring territories to achieve and exceed annual sales targets
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and tenders
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within:
- Universities and academic research centers
- Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies
- Contract research organizations (CROs)
- Novel industries for innovative applications
- Grow and maintain relationships with existing customers and key opinion leaders (KOLs)
Market Development
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging research areas
- Represent the company at scientific conferences, exhibitions, workshops, and industry meetings throughout Europe
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts and CRM records
- Prepare regular territory activity and performance reports
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Ability to clearly communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and commercial audiences in both English and German
- Full work authorization in Germany as visa sponsorship is not possible
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Europe
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on laboratory experience and specific understanding of and experience with studying ultrasonic vocalizations and/or experience in signal processing data analytics
- Existing network within European academic or pharmaceutical research communities
